Andy Vermiglio wanted to play clarinet like his grandfather, Andrea Vermiglio.  As a very young child he was greatly disappointed when his dad, Sam Vermiglio, took him to a music store and the man behind the glass counter said that he was too young to play his instrument of choice.  Noticing his father's drums in the garage, Andy decided to get serious about drumming at the age of eight.  His father saw that he had some natural ability and decided to enroll him in private lessons from age eight through eighteen.  Through the years Andy has studied with old Mr. Young, Denny Dennis, Hank Bellson (Louie's brother), Roland Gilbert (USN), Brad Bilhorn (Art Pepper, Bill Watrous), Don Plowman (USN), Bill Maxwell (from Andrae Crouch, Keith Green and Koinonia), Joe Porcaro (Jeff's dad), Ray Dunaway (USN), Dave Weckl (from the Chick Corea Band, George Benson, Randy Brecker, Eric Marienthal, Peabo Bryson, Mike Stern, Natalie Cole, Diana Ross, Madonna, Robert Plant and Dave Mathews) and Jeff Hamilton (Clayton/Hamilton Orchestra, Lionel Hampton, Oscar Peterson, Woody Herman and the Thundering Herd, Count Basie Orchestra and Diana Krall).

Andy is a former Navy musician, a former drum instructor for the U.S. Armed Forces School of Music and a former Army Reserve musician.  He is currently a member of the Vic Firth Education Team.  Andy has performed and/or recorded with:
